Zheng-Xin Yao, the Founder of Starry Concept, will transform into a motorcycle rider every weekend, cruising in the mountain. Being working in the IC and semiconductor industries for decades, he always has the idea to turn the thrill of riding motorcycle into quantifiable scientific data.
In 2017, with his rich experience and connection, he started a business. In June 2019, his inventions have received patents and in December of the same year, his company was stationed in the Startup Terrace Linkou.
Motorcyclists Can Also Enjoy a "Big-Screen" Riding experience
"This is the era when everyone has a smartphone. If one can skip the transferring of data from the SIM card and display the desired information directly on the phone, will it create more and new possibilities?" Starry Concept believes that as the CPU of smartphone is getting more powerful and the capacity is getting bigger, if information that took time to display on the computer in the past can be directly shown on the screen of a smartphone in real time, it not only will serve a daily travel video for the commuters, but also is the best record for cross-country riders to challenge themselves while speed racing.
With the concept of "what you record is what you get", Starry Concept officially released its first product-"L2D2 themed event data recorder" in 2020. "For riders who often ride in the mountains. If they want to know the vehicle speed, cornering angle, and G force, they can only view the information after they have arrived home and inserted the memory card into the computer. Besides, not everyone can carry a laptop computer all the time when riding outside". Through the settings and video recording function of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, riding videos can be integrated with the L2D2 system, and displayed in the APP interface in separate pieces.
The operation data during riding, the movement of the rider, and the posture can all be visualized as data, and presented "instantly without delay". In addition, the system also contains GPS positioning, map navigation and even smart bracelet functions, not only instantly turning the screen of a smartphone into a sports DV, but also allowing the riders to enjoy the riding experience with "mini electronic dashboard”.
Unique Dual Sensors (Main and Auxiliary) to Accurately Monitor Vehicle Performance
The L2D2 event data recorder is applicable to vehicles such as motorcycles, scooters and cars. In terms of design, L2D2 adopts wireless design and intuitive user experience. To increase the accuracy of measurement and control, Zheng-Xin Yao has developed a dual-sensor system with both "main" and "auxiliary" sensors.
With the dual-sensor system, the "main sensor" can be mounted on the front platform of a car and the fuel tank or the rear of a motorcycle to obtain vehicle speed, cornering G force and inclination. The "auxiliary sensor" on the other hand is directly installed on the steering wheel of a car or the steering of a motorcycle to analyze the driving, tire pressure/temperature, and left and right turning of the vehicle. In addition, the time of hitting the brake and the force used can also be recorded.
Through the combination of various extenders and one-to-many, 3D main and auxiliary sensors, the application of the system in the future can be extended to water motorcycles, off-road vehicles, remote control aircraft and racing cars.
